This Old House!

We decided to buy a house in the Pittsburgh area when we made the decision that Brad would continue working full time at his fancy investment banking firm and not go back to law school.  And when we decide to do something, we really go for it.  We started perusing houses online and only walked through two before we made an offer on the house we now live in!  I think the whole process took less than a month!

There are three really cool things about owning this particular house:

1. The house was built in 1938, which makes it seventy-two years old.  We are only the third owners of the house AND the property.

2. The previous owners, Don & Ella, lived in the house for sixty-three years.  It was their first house and their only house.  Sadly, they both passed away early this year and the house was vacant for five months before we moved in.  But...they raised 5 children here, plus one of the Grandmothers lived with them.  That makes eight people that were living in our tiny, three bedroom house at one time!

3. Don and Ella were married on the same day Brad and I were, fifty-three years before us.  Aww!

We moved in over Labor Day weekend and started renovations immediately.  There's obviously a lot to be done in a seventy-two year old house, so we're well on our way to making it more our style but still trying to keep the charm of the house alive.

How 'bout that landscaping!?
